This is a poem by Snowstripe, and is a poem that will later appear in The Spearmaid. It is somewhat of a song that just came to Gorse one evening and she has no idea where, how, or why she recited it. In reality, this is her badger ancestors from Dark Forest telling her something very important she will need to know in the future. This is kind of a short one, but here it is:

The sun has fallen and the moon has come,

and evil begins to fight,

But there will come a badgermaid,

whom will find the light.

There will never be a beast as evil,

as the one who has green eyes,

They will challenge the Just, and fight he must,

but he will bring the Warlord's demise.

Night whispers, night whispers,

while all the earth is asleep,

Night whispers, night whispers,

through the mountain deep.

Evil they be,

Right, they cannot see,

They plunder and slaughter through the night,

there will be the Lord and his troops,

they will fight only for right.

______________________________________

Dark times draw near, and many fear,

What terrible days may lie ahead,

But the Lord, the Just, who does only what he must,

knows his days will cloud over red.

Night whispers, night whispers,

while all the earth is asleep,

Night whispers, night whispers,

through the mountain deep.

Night whispers, night whispers,

through the mountain deep.

- As spoken by Gorse, daughter of Clea and Ceteruler the Just.
