It looks like some of us have forgotten about Thanksgiving in the midst of thinking of our Christmas Plans this December!

Some people view Thankgiving only as a special day dedicated to stuffing our gobs with vittles. But of coure, Thanksgiving means more than that!

We should be thankful about everthing that everyone has done for us, thankful of the wonderful food we get to eat, thankful that we don't live in poverty, thankful that we have computers to hang around here, and so on.

This holiday was founded when the Pilgrims took a long voyage on the ship Mayflower to settle somewhere in the Eastern Coast of the U.S.A. There they met Squanto and the other Indians who taught them how to farm. Thankful of this, they gave a huge feast showing their gratitude and thanks for the help in this new land.

At least, thats how I think it goes. (feel free to edit this historical moment if there's some incorrect or missing info in it)

Now, sign the line below and tell us what you're going to do this Thanksgiving! :)

Well... I'm going to eat a ton with my family. What did you expect? JadefangScanned at 10-10-2010 21-13 PMSomething's sketchy... 03:47, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Aha, I thought we skipped Thanksgiving ;). I'm going to my cousin's house for a get-together Thanksgiving with family & friends. Then the day after Thanksgiving we're having our own holiday since my dad won't have to work then. --Neildown - De oppresso LiberNeil down Semper fi 13:11, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

Did you know that the Pilgrims tried to reach Jamestown (but a storm blew them to Plymouth) not for their religious freedom, but to get away from the religious freedom of the Netherlands! Many Puritans lived in the Low Countries, where the easy-going Dutch allowed not only both Protestantism and Catholicism, but also Islam, Judaism, and atheism (that's me!). The Puritans were worried that the religious freedom of the Netherlands would "corrupt" their children, so they decided to reach the colony of Jamestown and arrange for a colony of their own. Not exactly something to be thankful of, and it also shows one of many lies some of your history teachers told you, guys! Anyways, I'm going to stay home for Thanksgiving, but during the school break at that time I will end up the world's leading turkey serial killer! Muahahahahaha!

[Neil Note: 1 - "Thankful for". 2 - it is actually kind of hard to raise children in one faith when there are so many other faiths in one place to put contradictory ideas in their heads while they still don't fully understand their own. It's smart parenting.] [Thorn's Note: So you think it's okay to lie to your kids about a holiday just to make sure they follow their religion? Or did I miss something? More lies from your history teacher coming up!] [Neil Note 2: How on earth does the definition of Thanksgiving tie in with following one's religion? That is a completely crass statement if I ever did hear one. Also, we don't really lie to our children - we are held by moral standards which prohibit us from doing so... Another thing - you can keep your comments to yourself or just leave them on my talk-page if you have a problem with my statements or my education...]

The local soup kitchen will have a thanksgiving dinner so that's where I'll be. Talanquel 21:19, November 18, 2010 (UTC)

@Thorn: No offense, but I think that's a lie YOUR history teacher told YOU. My history teacher doesn't lie. I will sing goth metal on Thanksgiving with my brother, and then write about all the whiny characters in my fanfictions who are thankful for nothing at all and at the same time sit around and be thankful for a dozen different things we never even think about. Then I will listen to depressing music by Evanescence and Kelly Clarkson and dream about the boy I have a crush on. [Thorn's Note: I have no history teacher, FYI! I am a complete history buff and you would never be able to count how many times I have researched and read about Pilgrims.] The StingMartinzeVarrior Anger me not! 04:54, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

Um... I don't want to step on anybody's toes, but I think you should debate on thanksgiving on the talk page. I think this page was primarily intended for telling people your thanksgiving plans, not arguing over it. Talanquel 19:22, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

I'm going to go to two feasts! Of which I've already been to one! And stuff myself with traditional Thanksgiving food and international food! (Forgot to sign) -Segalia Riverstorm, Archer Ottermaid Warrioress Segalia2 Eph. 6:10 18:11, November 25, 2010 (UTC)
