One of the first things you must decide when creating a character in Abbey Quest is what species they will be. Your species will define a large number of things about your character, such as:

  1. Attribute Modifiers:(Each species will get a + 2 to 2 Attributes and a -2 to one with the exception of Rats, Mice, Foxes, and Otters who can choose one Attribute to add 2 points to)
  2. Alignment: This will be described in greater detail below. Your choices for Alignment can be found on the main Abbey Quest Page under "Alignment" 
  3. Racial Skill: This is a + 3 bonus that each species recieve towards a specific skill.
  4. Weapon Proficiencies: Each Species tends to be good with some kind of weapon and has the choice to use it even if they do not have training with it.
  5. Misc. Mods: There are some species who hold an extra little detail about how they work and normally relate to how they act in the Redwall Series.

Species Alignment

In Redwall as we all know there are several distinct species that play parts in the books. Each of these species is usually defined as being part of one group or another:

Woodlander: These make up most characters inside Redwall and usually end up playing as the Main Character. While their personalities can vary wildly from quiet and mousy to loud and obnoxious one thing is always evident: They are not Evil Creatures. As such all creatures under this group cannot choose the alignment of Evil.
Vermin: For the most part Vermin tend to be the villains of Redwall and can often be found attacking Woodlanders. But once again they can have a wide array of personalities and traits, which will allow for many different types of characters. But with them what must always remain evident will be that they cannot have the good alignment

Misc. Mods: Mice Recieve an additional Ability upon character creation.

Description:

Hares

Attributes: + 2 DEX/CHA, - 2 INT

Racial Skill: Cooking

Weapon Proficiency: Player Choice, 2 Weapons

Misc. Mods: Needs twice as much food before they feel full.

Hedgehogs

Attributes: + 2 CHA/WIS, - 2 STR

Racial Skill: Cooking

Weapon Proficiency: Hammer, Battleaxes

Misc. Mods: + 2 vs. Poisons

Description:

Moles

Attributes: + 2 WIS/STR, - 2 INT

Racial Skill: Perception

Weapon Proficiency: Picks, Hammers

Misc. Mods: Darkvision (Can better see underground) + 2 to Perception underground.

Attributes: + 4 STR, - 2 DEX

Racial Skill: N/A

Weapon Proficiency: Player Choice Of a 2-Handed Weapon

Misc. Mods: Can choose to learn the Ability "Bloodwrath" regardless of class.

Attributes: + 2 Player Choice

Racial Skill: Additional Skill Point Per Level

Weapon Proficiency: N/A

Misc. Mods: Bonus Ability at character creation.

Description:

Squirrels

Attributes: + 2 DEX/INT, - 2 STR

Racial Skill: Perception

Weapon Proficiency: Bows, Slings, Thrown

Misc. Mods: Can move more quickly while in the forest.

Shrews

Attributes: + 2 STR/WIS, - 2 CHA

Racial Skill: Swim

Weapon Proficiency: Rapiers

Misc. Mods: When with other Shrews they will get a morale boost and feel more confident.

Attributes: + 2 DEX/INT, - 2 WIS

Racial Skill: Climb

Weapon Proficiency: Cutlass, Spear

Attributes: + 2 to attribute of Player Choice

Weapon Proficiency: Bolas, Axe

Misc. Mods: If mystic, 1st spell is Clairevoyance

Lizard

Attributes: + 4 STR, - 2 INT

Racial Skill: N/A

Weapon Proficiency: Teeth as a racial weapon, chance to poison

Misc. Mods: Can bite, must roll a d% for poison damage

Description:

Rat

Attributes: + 2 to attribute of Player Choice

Racial Skill: + 1 per level skill point per level

Weapon Proficiency: N/A

Misc. Mods: Bonus Feat
